Hoje participei do lançamento da GLAD, que está hospedado no endereço https://www.globallcadataaccess.org/ e tem sido organizado pela ONU Meio Ambiente com sua equipe de Paris. Participei do projeto desde 2015, quando fiz minha primeira viagem internacional pelo IBICT – se iniciou em 2014, em Washington.
Durante os cinco anos em que participei, contribuí, junto com meus colegas, para melhorar a estrutura da rede que se formava e também aprendi muito ao trabalhar com uma equipe internacional tão experienciada. Inclusive, meu doutorado também é fruto deste processo, uma vez que as entrevistas foram feitas com pessoas que representavam seus países na GLAD.
A rede, que é aberta, busca permitir que praticantes de ACV tenham acesso a inventários do ciclo de vida do mundo todo. É um grande processo de interoperabilidade entre bases construídas com as mais diversas tecnologias, baseadas em distintas nomenclaturas e que agora utilizam padrões comuns de metadados.
O que posso dizer é que foi muito bom ver este lançamento e melhor ainda poder participar ativamente. Parabéns à comunidade ACVística, espero que o Brasil continue ativamente contribuindo com iniciativas que visem melhorar o ciclo da informação sobre sustentabilidade.

As the institution responsible for hosting recognized national Brazilian LCA datasets, IBICT supported GLAD from the very beginning because we believe that everyone have benefits when there is a project focused in oppenning important information, and the network that we are launching today always was committed to be open and is focused in very important sustainable information.
Since the GLAD Brazilian meeting in 2016, when we established GLAD’s infrastructure principles, we have worked together with specialists all around the world and could share our advances and benefit from other’s advances too. To connect with GLAD we had to propose and entire new process of making available our datasets and this led us to improve the way we manage our own database. I can say that the approach used to develop the network enabled us to share Brazilian primary data in a simple web interface without the necessity of complex computer programming.
The opportunity to have a global network which is open and prepared to support connections from a diversity of users, aiming to find information that will allow then to understand in a better way the flow of energy and materials and how the production of goods and services could impact our environment, was the key reason why Brazil chose to be GLAD.
